About

I was born and raised in St. George, UT! I never excelled in mathematics as I was content to just get by, spending my free time out in the desert riding my bike, hiking, and catching lizard and snakes. Despite my lack of interest in educating myself, I was intent on becoming a video game developer. This ambition stuck with me until the end of my second year of college, when I realized that I was a pretty terrible programmer.

Near the same time, I took my first Calculus course as part of my degree program, and realized math is incredible. This realization led me to change my degree path to one in mathematics. I accidentally kept going to college for a long, LONG time, and eventually ended up with some degrees where I specialized in applied math education and computational mathematics (it turns out that programming became much easier to understand after I took some more math courses). I started teaching math during graduate school, which I have done ever since!
