Simplify! A Successful Approach for Teaching Developmental Mathematics

This session will present teaching techniques used to increase student success in developmental mathematics. Topics include: tricks and tips for retention, kinesthetic learning, "long bar" and "wipe-out" methods for working with fractions, and the use of a 3x5 note card in the classroom.Powerpoint PresentationHandout
Self-Assessment and Review Through Group Testing
Presenters: Kari Arnoldsen & Lorie Hughes
Group-testing helps students learn and prepare for exams. Various methodologies for in-class group testing will be presented and demonstrated. The presenters will demonstrate a system for classes to organize, grade, and help students increase learning using group-testing.
