Geology Requirements

Below is a list of courses required of all geology majors beyond the Snow College GE requirements.   Some differences exist depending on the university you plan to transfer to, your background in math and science, and the specific area of geology you wish to pursue.

Geology Courses:

• GEO 1110, 1115 - Physical Geology
• GEO 1220, 1225 - Historical Geology
  Prerequisite:
  • GEO 1110, 1115
• GEO 2500 - Geology Field Studies

Chemistry Courses:

• CHEM 1210, 1215 - Principles of Chemistry
  Prerequisites:
  • MATH 1050-College Algebra
  • High School Chemistry
• CHEM 1220, 1225 - Principles of Chemistry
  Prerequisites:
  • CHEM 1210, 1215

Physics Courses:

• PHYS 2210, 2215 - University Physics I
  Prerequisites:
  • MATH 1210, 1220-Calculus
  • High School Physics
• PHYS 2220, 2225 - University Physics II
  Prerequisites:
  • PHYS 2210, 2215

Math Courses:

• MATH 1210 - Calculus I
  Prerequisites:
  • MATH 1050-College Algebra
  • MATH1060 Trigonometry
• MATH 1220 - Calculus II
  Prerequisites:
  • MATH 1220
