Snow College prioritizes quality teaching in all delivery formats, including online offerings. However, online teaching presents several unique challenges to ensuring quality. To assist online faculty with this ongoing objective, this Online Excellence webpage provides several faculty resources and outlines three required steps for online quality course development and delivery.

Online Excellence Certificate

This asynchronous course hosted through Canvas will introduce instructors to some of the qualities of designing an online course and teaching in an online environment. The course will include assignments that will be reviewed and suggestions provided by experienced online teachers or members of the Teaching and Learning Center staff. Assignments are constructed to be applied in your online teaching courses.

Topics for this course will include: basic Canvas tools, what online teaching looks like, designing an outcomes-based course, establishing a social presence, providing academic feedback, and making your course accessible. Peer Observation

This rubric has been designed to aid in the ongoing evaluation of online courses and instructors. The feedback on this form should recognize instructor efforts to maintain high quality and rigor in their courses and provide thoughtful recommendations for improvement.

For full-time faculty, this form should be added to their dossier and will be submitted to department chairs to meet the Advancement & Tenure schedule and/or department review schedules. For adjunct faculty, this form will be included in their annual review and submitted to department chairs at least once a year when teaching an online course.
