Basic Skills Assignment #2
Your next basic skills assignment focuses on how to situate your writing within
larger arguments using a template from the Graff book. Use the template on page 24
and use it to introduce an ongoing debate from the list below.
- after a decade or more of widespread steriod use, what should Major League baseball
do with records such as the single season and career home run records?
- should airports use full-body screening machines to deter terrorists?
- was it a good idea for the federal government to bail out banks and other financial
institutions that were on the verge of collapsing?
- should President Obama continue with his plan to send even more soldiers to Afganistan?
- should Ephraim residents avoid shopping at chain stores orout of the county and support
local businesses instead?
- should kids under 16 be able to drive ATVs on city streets?
- is U2 the greatest rock band still releasing new music?
- if you'd like, use another controversy of your choosing
Your response should be typed and will count towards the 50 point basic skills
category. It should only be about a half-page long, and it is due at the beginning
of class on Wednesday, January 13th.
