English 2010 Intermediate Writing
Instructions for the Grammar Exercise
- Go to www.dianahacker.com/writersref.
- Click on either “Grammar Exercises” or “Writing Exercises.”
- On the login page, click "Cancel." You'll be able to take the quizzes without logging
in.
- Select a quiz on a subject that you want to improve in. Some topics have multiple
quizzes, so you may need to select a general topic and then a specific topic.
- Before taking the quiz, study the rule in your Hacker handbook. The letter-number
code in the title of the quiz corresponds with a section of your handbook.
- Take the quiz. (Follow the instrcutions and move from question to question by clicking
on the orange arrows.)
- After answering the last question, click on the orange “Score.”
- Click on “Print Score” at the bottom of the page. (Either print the results or copy
and paste them into an email.)
- Write a short paragraph (no more than a half-page) evaluating this exercise as a learning
experience. What did you learn? What is still unclear? How helpful was it? This paragraph
should be typed to receive full credit and may be emailed to me.
- On the day the Grammar Exercise is due, turn in the print-out of your results and the paragraph you’ve written (unless you have already emailed them).
