To subscribe to the class e-mail list send a message to
listserv@larry.smith.snow.edu. You need not fill in the subject line for this
message because it will be read by a program, not a person. In the main
body of the text type a one-line message saying "subscribe
astronomy <Your Real Name>" (without the quotes or the
< > signs. Use plain text
as the listserv can't understand styled text or html tags.
Here is an example:
to: listserv@larry.smith.snow.edu

----------------------
subscribe astronomy John Doe
Click the Send button and then Check Mail again for confirmation of your subscription. You should have a message saying you are on the class list.
Now any message you send to astronomy@larry.smith.snow.edu will go to the whole list (everyone in the class). Remember, send to listserv@larry.smith.snow.edu to get on or off the list, but to add to the class discussion send to astronomy@larry.smith.snow.edu.
To get off the list at the end of the term send a one line message (in the body) to listserv@larry.smith.snow.edu saying "unsubscribe astronomy" (no quotes). Here is an example:
