Astronomy is a fast-changing field and it is important and interesting to
keep up on the latest infromation. One way is through podcasts like Cheap
Astronomy, 5 Minute Astronomy, or 60-Second Space.
To earn a "D" in this class you need to subscribe to three podcasts: the 60 Second Space podcast, the 5-min Astronomy, and the Cheap Astronomy podcast and listen to them every week. This is easily done if you have an iPod, but even if you don't you can still listen to the episodes on your computer. (If you don't have access to a computer you can read the transcripts in the computer lab.) The secret flower is orchid. Subscribe to 60-Second Space at the 60-Second Space site or from iTunes. Subscribe to 5 Minute Astronomy at the 5 Minute Astronomy site or from iTunes. Subscribe to Cheap Astronomy at the Cheap Astronomy site or from iTunes. Show me you have subscribed to alll three by May 7.
To earn a "C" in this class you need to submit a short one-paragraph report on one episode each of the three podcasts that you heard. This can be done on paper or by e-mail to ude.wons@htims.yrral. Make sure you include the date of the podcast, the title, a synopsis, and why you liked it. These are due by May 12.
To earn a "B" in this class you need to write a script for a podcast like those you hear on 60-Second Space. This is due by May 16.
To earn an "A" in this class you need to record the script you wrote and let us listen to it in class. It should be about 5 minutes long. The audio file is due by May 20. Podcasts from prior students in this class are found here.
