Pre Algebra - Math 0950

Course Description:

The developmental math sequence (Math 0950, 0990, and 1010) at Snow College is designed to prepare you for more rigorous college-level math courses (i.e. 1030, 1040, 1050, and 1080). As you progress through the sequence, you will hone your understanding and proficiency with basic mathematics and algebra content.

Covered content will include: real number system, linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions and functions, roots and radicals, conic sections, and exponential and logarithmic functions. An emphasis will be placed on real-world applications and problem solving.

Student Learning Outcomes:

To successfully complete Math 0950, students will show proficiency with:

• Arithmetic of signed numbers
• Fractions, decimals, and percents (including solving application problems)
• Order of operations
• Unit conversions, rate, ratios, and proportions
• Simplifying algebraic expressions
• Solve (one- or two-step) linear equations in one variable.
