Full-time (Salaried)

 

Permanent part-time (Hourly)

A part-time staff member is employed less than 75% time annually. Their position was posted through the Human Resources office according to policy # 315. Permanent part-time positions are expected to remain funded for the foreseeable future. These employees qualify as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and cannot hold, in addition to an hourly position, exempt positions such as adjunct faculty or coaching while in non-exempt status. Employees holding permanent part-time positions are limited to 29.5 hours per week, not to exceed 1500 hours in a 12-month rolling lookback period. These employees are considered at-will and may be released from employment at any time. 

Short-term part-time (Hourly)

A short-term staff member is employed less than 75% time annually. These employees qualify as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and cannot hold, in addition to an hourly position, exempt positions such as adjunct faculty or coaching while in non-exempt status. Employees holding short-term part-time positions are limited to 29.5 hours per week, not to exceed 1500 hours in a 12-month rolling lookback period. Their position will not exceed 9 months within a calendar year. They may or may not be on payroll consecutively for the entire 9 months. These employees generally have an termination date for their employment or may hold seasonal or on-call positions. Positions that qualify as short-term are generally not posted through the HR office. These employees are exempt from permanent part-time privileges and considered at-will and may be released from employment at any time. 

Adjunct Faculty (Salaried)

An adjunct faculty member is employed less than 75% time annually and teaches a minimum of 1 credit hour per assignment. Adjunct faculty are employed per semester or by block semester assignments. These employees qualify for exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and cannot hold hourly positions while in adjunct status. Positions that qualify as adjunct faculty are generally posted through the HR office via an adjunct pool. These employees are eligible for permanent part-time privileges while currently on assignment and considered at-will and may be released from employment at any time.
