Prerequisites: MATH 1220, CHEM 1210 and (ENGR 2165 or ENGR 2167 - may be taken concurrently.)
Description: The Materials Science course explores how the atomic and microstructure of metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites affect material properties, such as diffusion, elasticity, hardness, work hardening, failure modes, phase transformations, crystallinity, corrosion, conductivity, etc. Methods for selecting materials for engineering applications are examined.
